This book kept me interested throughout and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole story, plot twists and hard to predict ending. Many elements of the book, including places the actress went with her grandmother, appear in the novel. m., tickling my arm and telling me what her childhood was like, and those stories impacted me so much.

Heartfelt and warm, with quietly heroic characters that embody the innocence of first love and wartime patriotism, Brown's debut is sure to be popular among readers who enjoy novels that bring lesser-known notable events from the past to life. You might open Nineteen Steps for the celebrity name, but stick with it for the history of an under-recognized event of World War II. The story is so emotional and raw; you really feel the loss and the grief that main character, Nellie Morris experiences and at times, it was hard to stop my eyes from tearing up. Millie Bobby Brown pens a sweet, sensitive coming-of-age story drawn from her own family history --Nineteen Steps is a lovely read for fans everywhere.

I did not mean to vilify ghostwriting as I know it happens in all forms of entertainment and is a very respectable position. I tend to stay away from it cause it usually bores me or just doesn’t peak my interest unless there’s fantasy elements, however, I don’t know if it’s the pure tragedy and devastation that takes place in this book that spoke to me or the romance subplot, but I couldn’t put it down.As people entered, a woman carrying a child tripped on the darkened staircase, causing those behind them to fall as well. Her family and friends all tease that she will marry air raid warden Billy, the boy next door who’s always been sweet on her. Part three is a relatively short denouement that does a great job not ignoring or effacing the past trauma, but showing how someone can pick up the pieces and try to move forward.
